Casio and MD Entertainment Launch 'Filosofi Teras' Special Edition Watch, Promoting Mental Health Awareness

MD Entertainment has partnered with Casio Indonesia for the launch of its latest film, ‘Filosofi Teras’. The collaboration includes a social campaign to raise public awareness about mental health. ‘As a company that believes in the power of storytelling, we always strive to present films that not only entertain but also have a positive impact on society,’ said MD Entertainment Chief Communications Officer Astrid Suryatenggara in a press statement on Monday (13/7). A total of 300 units of a special edition Casio MQ-24 watch have been produced for this partnership. Of these, 50 units will be auctioned through a Bid for Charity programme with Yayasan Pulih, with all proceeds going to support mental health programmes in Indonesia. The remaining 250 units will be distributed to the public through various social media activities. Astrid added that the collaboration is expected to create a positive impact and build broader social awareness. ‘This first-ever collaboration between Casio and Indonesian cinema through Filosofi Teras shows how two industries with aligned values can spark conversations and social movements that extend beyond the cinema screen,’ she said. Casio Indonesia’s Head of Marketing & Creative, Raizar Amar, explained that the MQ-24 has a long history since its first release in 1987. The analogue watch is designed for those who appreciate functionality without complexity. ‘It was created for people who don’t want fuss, who prefer simplicity, and don’t want to be bothered by complicated features,’ he said. This ‘no-fuss’ characteristic is considered highly relevant to the message of Filosofi Teras. In Stoic philosophy, one of the core principles is distinguishing between what we can and cannot control, and embracing a calmer, simpler life. The film Filosofi Teras is an adaptation of Henry Manampiring’s book discussing Stoic philosophy. The family drama is directed by Affandi Abdul Rachman and stars Sherina Munaf in the lead role, portraying the struggles of a woman named Nea who becomes the family’s breadwinner. Other cast members include Zee Asadel and Lydia Kandou. Sherina revealed she was immediately interested upon hearing that Filosofi Teras would be adapted into a film.
