Cashier in Riau Sends Bloodied Selfie After Robbery: 'Help Me'
A 25-year-old woman, identified by the initials PT, who worked as a company cashier in Pelalawan, Riau, was seriously injured after being stabbed multiple times by a robber. The victim managed to send a bloodied selfie to a colleague and ask for help.
‘After the perpetrator fled, the victim, in a weakened state, tried to sit in the cashier’s chair and sent a selfie of her blood-covered face to her colleague via WhatsApp with the message, “Help me, Gung, I’m about to be killed,”’ said Pelalawan Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Bayu Ramadhan Effendi, recounting the victim’s message on Friday (19/6/2026).
Shortly afterwards, the victim’s colleague, named Agung, arrived with witness Harun Effendi. However, upon reaching the office, the door was closed and the witness did not dare to enter, so he contacted local residents.
‘After the residents arrived, the witness entered and saw the cashier’s room door was open, blood was scattered on the floor, and the victim was seated with her head resting on the table, semi-conscious, with her entire body covered in blood,’ he explained.
The victim was then taken to Efarina Hospital in Pangkalan Kerinci. At the same time, Agung contacted the National Police call centre 110 to report the robbery.
The Pelalawan Police Criminal Investigation Unit team, upon receiving the information, immediately checked the crime scene. The perpetrator, named Joni, who is an honorary employee at a primary school in Pelalawan, was eventually arrested.
‘Suspect Jodi Alfandi was arrested while fleeing from Pekanbaru towards Bandar Seikijang on Thursday (18/6) at around 3.30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time,’ he said.
The suspect and a number of pieces of evidence are currently in police custody. Police are still conducting further examinations of the suspect.
Chronology of the Robbery
The incident took place at the company office on Jalan Lintas Timur Km 43, Kiyap Jaya Village, Bandar Sei Kijang District, Pelalawan Regency, on Wednesday (17/6) afternoon. Initially, the perpetrator, named Jodi, came to the location to observe the situation.
‘At 2.00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, the perpetrator came to monitor the situation. After realising the victim was alone, the perpetrator pretended to ask to use the toilet and stole a pair of yellow-handled scissors from an outside table to use as a weapon,’ said Bayu.
About two hours later, precisely at 4.50 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, the perpetrator returned to the office, whose door was open. He immediately threatened and brandished the scissors, forcing the victim to hand over the safe key.
‘However, the victim refused and screamed for help, so the suspect committed violence against her by choking her, throwing her to the floor, stepping on her head, kicking her, and stabbing her repeatedly with the scissors until the scissors bent and injured the suspect’s fingers,’ he explained.
Not only that, the suspect also hit the victim with an electric fan. In a blind rage, the perpetrator then grabbed a screwdriver from the cashier’s table and stabbed the victim repeatedly until she was covered in blood.
‘The victim was in a weakened state at that point, and the suspect demanded she hand over the key to the safe where the money was stored,’ he added.
After successfully seizing the safe key, the perpetrator made off with approximately Rp 76 million in cash from inside the safe. Before fleeing, the perpetrator washed his injured hands in the toilet and then damaged the front terrace CCTV camera with a stone.
