Jakarta (ANTARA) - Casemiro is reportedly interested in joining AC Milan for a reunion with Luka Modric after his contract with Manchester United expires this summer, The Sun reported on Thursday.

The Brazilian midfielder is set to leave Old Trafford after Manchester United decided not to extend his contract, which expires at the end of this season.

Casemiro and Modric previously played together at Real Madrid before Casemiro joined Manchester United in 2022 and Modric moved to AC Milan last year.

Manchester United confirmed in January that Casemiro would leave at the end of this season.

“Casemiro will leave Manchester United this summer after his contract expires,” United said in a statement at the time.

The 34-year-old has since been linked with a number of clubs. Several Major League Soccer teams are interested in bringing him to the United States.

However, British media reports say Casemiro still wants to stay in Europe because he feels he can still compete at the highest level.

AC Milan has emerged as a strong candidate. The Serie A runners-up are ready to compete with MLS clubs to sign the former Madrid and Porto star.

Although his future is uncertain, Casemiro remains committed to playing for Manchester United until the end of this season.

The Red Devils are in a position to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Casemiro is expected to return to the starting lineup when United host Crystal Palace this weekend.
