Case of Two Brimob Officers Assaulted and Macheted by Debt Collectors: TNI Corporal R Named Suspect

The investigation into the machete attack on two members of the Banten Regional Police Brimob unit continues to develop. An Indonesian Army soldier, identified by the initials Corporal R, has officially been named a suspect. The soldier, stationed at Kodim 0_602/Serang, is currently being held at Denpom III/4 Serang following his alleged involvement in the bloody incident that occurred on Tuesday night, 2 June 2026. Beyond his alleged presence at the scene, Corporal R is suspected of acting as a ‘backing’ or protector for the group of debt collectors involved in the clash with Brimob personnel.

The Head of Information for Kodam III/Siliwangi, Colonel Inf. Mahmuddin Abdillah, confirmed the legal status of Corporal R, noting that he has been elevated to suspect status and is being detained. Previously, it was reported that the investigation into the attack on the two Banten Brimob members, allegedly carried out by a gang of debt collectors in Serang City, has progressed significantly. Following the initial arrest of two perpetrators, police have apprehended two additional individuals involved in the brutal action.

With this latest arrest, a total of four individuals have been taken into custody by authorities regarding the incident, which left two Brimob personnel with machete wounds to their heads, hands, and faces. The Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Banten Regional Police, Commissioner Pol. Dian Setyawan, stated on Thursday, 4 June 2026, that the two new suspects, identified by the initials GB and MM, have been caught, bringing the total number of detainees to four. According to Setyawan, all four suspects were present at the scene and played different roles in the assault. The Banten Regional Police had previously arrested two debt collectors, FN and YS, for their alleged involvement in vehicle seizure accompanied by the assault of the Brimob members in the Legok area of Serang City. The Head of Public Relations for the Banten Regional Police, Commissioner Pol. Maruli Ahiles Hutapea, noted that the incident began when a group of debt collectors attempted to forcibly seize a vehicle belonging to the Brimob personnel.
