Malaysian netizens have been calling for a boycott of Pagi Sore Restaurant after a group of Malaysian tourists were accused of not paying their bill. The accusation was later shown to be untrue and caused by internal miscommunication at the restaurant.

The incident began when a Malaysian tourist named Norain Mohd Yunus, with the account @ainmyunus, shared her experience on Threads. In her post, Norain said that she and five companions dined at Pagi Sore Restaurant in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) on 13 May, with a total bill of Rp907,500.

After dining and paying, the group headed directly to Halim High-Speed Rail Station (Whoosh) to continue their sightseeing trip to Bandung. According to Norain, their journey initially went smoothly until 16 May when they learned from their travel agent that the restaurant management had viral-ed their group because they were believed not to settle the payment.

“Everything was okay until we returned to Jakarta. On 16 May when leaving the hotel, suddenly the driver asked us where the receipt from Pagi Sore is. He said the Pagi Sore management had viral-ed us because we hadn’t paid,” Norain said in her post.

The news left Norain and the group panicking because they believed they had paid in full. Fortunately, the payment receipt was eventually found tucked inside one of the group’s bags.

After the proof of payment was shown, the restaurant management admitted there had been an internal error and miscommunication. In her post, Norain also attached a clarification letter and a video of an apology from Pagi Sore.

“We, the Pagi Sore Restaurant, apologise for the misunderstanding that occurred regarding the payment by the travel guests who dined at our restaurant. The incident happened due to miscommunication and does not involve any intentional wrongdoing by any party,” said the Pagi Sore management.
