Case of Boy Beaten by Police Officer's Child in Depok Settled Amicably Despite Being Classified as Juvenile Delinquency
Depok – An assault case involving a nine-year-old boy identified as F, who was mistakenly targeted by R (11), a child of a police officer in Depok, has been resolved amicably. “Mediation or restorative justice has been carried out, and both parties have accepted that this indeed constitutes juvenile delinquency,” stated AKP Made Budi, Public Relations Chief of Depok Metro Police, during an interview with journalists at Depok Police Headquarters on Friday (27 February 2026).
Following a competition held on Wednesday evening (25 February 2026) in which R was defeated, the child became emotionally agitated. R subsequently called friends and pursued a boy from the opposing group. However, they mistakenly identified and assaulted F instead of their intended target. “Based on circulating video footage and recordings, one of the victims was seen being pulled and dragged by one of the perpetrators,” Made explained.
F’s mother, Widya, confirmed that her son was a case of mistaken identity. At Cimanggis Police Station, Widya met with the parents of the perpetrators after learning that her son had been beaten and dragged approximately 7-8 metres. According to CCTV footage reviewed by Kompas.com, cries of distress were audible, and the boy believed to be R was seen striking the victim’s back with his flip-flop. “From what I understand from witnesses, my son was beaten by the child of a police officer. That’s what happened,” said Widya on Friday. “They did apologise, but the apology was superficial. As a parent, I need a sincere expression of remorse from their side,” she continued.
Made confirmed that one of the two alleged perpetrators is the child of a police officer serving at Cimanggis Police Station. “Yes, one of the perpetrators is the child of a police member from Cimanggis Police Station,” Made clarified.
