Case of Alumni Slapping Junior High School Student in Bogor Ends Peacefully, Perpetrator Promises Not to Repeat

The case of an alumni slapping a junior high school student in a scout uniform in Bogor City, West Java, has been resolved amicably. The perpetrator has promised not to repeat the act.

“It is true, regarding the legal matter, it was agreed upon by the victim’s family, considering that the child’s age is also still underage, thus concluding that the issue be resolved amicably, without being brought to the legal domain,” said Central Bogor Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head Ipda Budi Setiawan on Thursday (13/8/2026).

Budi stated that the families of the victim and the perpetrator had mediated and agreed to reconcile shortly after the incident. The results of the mediation were also conveyed to the schools of both the victim and the perpetrator, but the bullying video circulated and went viral on social media.

Police then took proactive steps by visiting the school earlier today to confirm the identities of the students in the viral video. Police also followed up on the mediation results between the victim’s and perpetrator’s families, who did not wish to pursue legal action.

“The conclusion from this incident is that the matter is not being resolved through legal channels, and both parties continue to resolve the issue amicably. And most importantly, they made a statement promising not to repeat the act,” said Budi.

Previously, police revealed the trigger for the alumni slapping the junior high school student. The perpetrator allegedly slapped the victim because she was upset about gossip that her boarding house was frequently visited by male friends until late at night.

“So the incident began when someone told the victim that in her area, people were often talking about how at her (the perpetrator’s) boarding house, there were often late-night gatherings or male friends visiting,” said Central Bogor Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head Ipda Budi Setiawan on Thursday (13/8).

“In the end, the news was not clarified, and then the perpetrator confronted the victim, resulting in the bullying,” he continued.

A similar account was shared by Ade Siswanto, a staff member from the Junior High School Section of the Bogor City Education Office. Ade said the perpetrator intended to clarify the matter with the victim but ended up resorting to violence.

“Actually, the problem was trivial. The gist is, the person wearing the black shirt is an alumni, and she was renting a room. She was rumoured, gossiped about, that she often brought men to her boarding house and frequently gathered there,” said Ade.
