Mataram (ANTARA) - The Central Lombok District Attorney’s Office, West Nusa Tenggara, has stated that the case files for the leader of an Islamic boarding school, identified by the initials AMR (5pend5), a suspect in a case involving students being burnt, are still with the NTB Regional Police investigators to complete prosecutorial instructions.

“Therefore, the case involving the adult suspect is still in the investigation stage at the NTB Regional Police,” said the Acting Head of the Intelligence Section of the Central Lombok District Attorney’s Office, R. Iman Pribadi, via telephone on Wednesday.

Iman noted that there has been no follow-up on the transfer of AMR’s files after the examining prosecutor provided several additional instructions to the investigators.

Although the investigation is being conducted by the NTB Regional Police, he ensured that the second stage—the handover of the suspect and evidence once the files are declared complete—will take place at the Central Lombok District Attorney’s Office.

“The administration will remain with us (Central Lombok District Attorney’s Office),” he said.

The Director of the Protection of Women and Children and Eradication of Human Trafficking (Dirres PPA-PPO) of the NTB Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Ni Made Pujawati, previously stated that the case files for the minor suspect, identified as MR (15), had been declared complete (P-21).

Meanwhile, the case files for AMR are still in the process of fulfilling the examining prosecutor’s instructions.

“There are several instructions from the examining prosecutor, including deepening the testimony of several witnesses from the boarding school environment, and they have also requested the completion of restitution calculations (compensation by the perpetrator),” said Ni Made.

Before transferring the files to the examining prosecutor, investigators supplemented the investigation materials by conducting a reconstruction within the boarding school grounds.

During the reconstruction of the incident that occurred on 13 December 2025, both suspects were brought in to perform at least 50 scenes.

Based on the results of the reconstruction, investigators concluded that there was no evidence of intentionality by MR in burning the victim. The event, which resulted in several students suffering burns and one death, pointed towards a fire incident.

Investigators subsequently added charges regarding the alleged criminal act of placing a child in a situation of maltreatment or committing violence against a child that resulted in serious injury and/or death.

The charges include Article 77B in conjunction with Article 76B or Article 80 paragraph (2) and/or paragraph (3) in conjunction with Article 76C of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection.

Investigators also applied provisions regarding negligence resulting in others suffering serious injury and/or death, as regulated in Article 474 paragraph (2) and/or (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code (KUHP).

AMR and MR were named suspects after investigators probed the fire incident within the boarding school environment in Batukliang District, Central Lombok.

Police previously stated that the designation of AMR as a suspect was related to alleged negligence in supervision within the boarding school premises.
