Case Files Complete, Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa Transferred to DKI High Prosecutor's Office
Investigators from the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of Polda Metro Jaya have officially carried out the phase two handover of two suspects in the alleged fake news case concerning Joko Widodo’s diploma. Former Minister of Youth and Sports Roy Suryo and Dr. Tifauziah Tyassuma, known as Dokter Tifa, were transferred to the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office on Monday (22/6/2026).
Director of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, stated that the handover included responsibility for the suspects as well as the evidence. This step was taken after the case files were declared complete and ready for trial.
“Today we are carrying out the handover of responsibility for the suspects and evidence regarding the alleged criminal acts of defamation and electronic documents. We have transferred the suspects, RS and TT, to the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office,” Iman said at the Polda Metro Jaya headquarters.
Responding to public questions about the forced pick-up process carried out earlier, Senior Commissioner Iman asserted that all police actions were in accordance with legal corridors. He guaranteed there were no administrative or procedural violations in handling this case, which has drawn national attention.
“All legal procedures regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) serve as our guideline. Starting from the summons to the detention, everything was carried out in a measured manner and based on the applicable legal framework,” he stressed.
With this handover, the authority over the detention of Roy Suryo and Dokter Tifa has now fully transferred from the police to the Public Prosecutor. The case emerged after social media posts by Roy Suryo and Dokter Tifa questioning the authenticity of Joko Widodo’s diploma went viral. Based on case reviews and expert witness examinations, investigators concluded there was an alleged violation of broadcasting false news that could potentially cause public disturbance. For their actions, the two suspects are charged with multiple articles from various laws.
