Carter Center to monitor poll in Aceh

BANDA ACEH: After an absence in Aceh in the July 5 presidential election, Carter Center, a U.S.-based poll observer, will dispatch personnel to the strife-torn province soon, according to a release made available to the media on Monday.

Two of staffers at the center have already arrived in the province to hold talks with local poll watchdogs on what it could prepare and what could be done to oversee the runoff on Sept. 20 in the province.

The center has been in Indonesia over the last few months and observed the July 5 presidential election, but Aceh was excluded from their observation at that time for unknown reasons. -- Antara
