Cartenz Task Force Identifies Perpetrators of Jayawijaya Civil Servant Shooting via Video Call

The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force has successfully identified two suspected perpetrators of the shooting that killed three civil servants from the Jayawijaya Regency Agriculture Office. The bloody incident occurred in Muliama Village, Muliama District, Papua Highlands, on Wednesday (9/9/2026).

The two suspects, identified by the initials PN and KT, are confirmed members of an armed group that has long been on the Most Wanted list. Both are known to have been involved in a series of serious crimes in the Papua region over the past several years.

The Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz-2026 Peace Operation, Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, revealed that the identities of the perpetrators were uncovered through their own carelessness. The suspects reportedly made video calls to the victims’ families using the mobile phone belonging to one of the victims, which they seized after the shooting.

“We have identified them; they are indeed the suspected perpetrators. They made two video calls using the victim’s phone number, the device of which was taken by the perpetrators. The initials are PN and KT,” Yusuf stated when confirmed on Friday (11/9/2026).

According to police data, PN and KT have extensive and horrific criminal records. Yusuf disclosed that these fugitives have been involved in several prominent actions.

Yusuf emphasised that this group tends to operate randomly to spread fear among the community. “They indeed always spread terror through threats of violence as well as random acts of violence. This is the group we are continuously pursuing,” he concluded.
