The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2026 arrested Meno Heluka, a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), in the Yahukimo region, Papua Mountains, on Monday (23 February).
The Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz Peace Operation, Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, said that Meno was arrested after being spotted near Terminal 88 while he was about to travel to the Korowai region.
Yusuf stated that Meno was proven to be involved in the shooting of TNI AD Sergeant Segar Mulyana on 16 June 2025. The shooting occurred while the victim was on duty in an area considered to be prone to armed disturbances.
He said that the perpetrator was immediately taken to the Yahukimo Police Station for intensive questioning.
“Personnel immediately moved quickly and decisively, so Meno Heluka was successfully secured without causing disruption to the security situation in the surrounding area,” he told reporters on Tuesday (24 February).
He explained that Meno is also a core member of the KKB group led by Kopitua Heluka, which is actively carrying out acts of armed violence in the Papua Mountains.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, affirmed that they will continue to take firm action against all members of the KKB who commit violence in the Papua region.
“Every individual suspected of being involved in acts of violence against authorities or civilians will be processed according to applicable law,” he said.
Furthermore, Faizal said that officers are currently continuing to map and develop information on the Meno Heluka network.
“We are continuing to map and profile the networks that are still active. The examination of Meno Heluka is currently focused on investigating his role and the possibility of other parties being involved in the group’s network,” he said.
