Carrefour opens 11th store in RI
JAKARTA: French retail giant Carrefour opened on Wednesday a new hypermarket in Bandung, West Java.
The retailer said in a statement that since entering Indonesia in 1998, it had opened a total of 11 stores, 10 of which are located in Jakarta. The company has so far invested more than Rp 1 trillion (about US$121 million) in this country.
President of PT Carrefour Indonesia Herve Clec'h said that the company planned to open more stores in the future in Java and Sumatra.
"In the future, Carrefour plans to set up more stores in big cities in Java and Sumatra," said Clec'h.
The inauguration of the Bandung store was also attended by French Ambassador in Indonesia Renaud Vignal.
Clec'h explained that the company usually required between Rp 50 billion and 100 billion to build one store. -- JP
