Caring for Palestine Can Begin Within the Family
Caring for the Palestinian people can be cultivated through the habit of mutual assistance within the family environment. The values of compassion and responsibility learned at home serve as the basis for responding to the hardships of others, including humanitarian issues beyond one’s immediate surroundings.
Shinto Fitrio, Head of Public Relations at MyFundAction, stated that strengthening the family unit can help foster social concern. This perspective was shared during a joint study with Mamah Dedeh at the At-Taya Mosque in Kemanggisan, West Jakarta, on Wednesday (30/09/2026).
“This study reminds us that care begins in the closest environment, which is the family. If these values grow well, this concern can be carried forward to respond to the needs of communities facing difficulties,” Shinto said in a statement on Monday (05/10/2026).
In her sermon, Mamah Dedeh emphasised the importance of affection, trust, and responsibility within married life. According to her, these values must be maintained in the relationships between family members.
“Remember, the purpose of marriage is to cultivate feelings of love, mawaddah, amanah, and rahmah,” said Mamah Dedeh. Her message regarding family life was subsequently linked to caring for communities in need of assistance.
MyFundAction invited congregants to provide humanitarian support for the Palestinian people according to their respective abilities. Shinto noted that such support is one way to implement the value of compassion in daily life.
“We want the message of faith and care from this study to be applied in everyday life. Support for Palestine is one form of care that congregants can provide according to their individual capacities,” he added.
The study was attended by congregants from various areas across the Greater Jakarta region (Jabodetabek), including several women’s religious study groups (majelis taklim). The material connected the strengthening of faith and family relationships with attention to the needs of the wider community.
