Cargo center at seaport
JAKARTA (JP): The cornerstone of a new cargo distribution center was laid at Jakarta's Tanjung Priok seaport yesterday by Director General of Sea Transportations Soentoro.
The center, which will occupy a 10,214-square-meter section of the seaport, is being developed by the state-owned seaport company, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II, in cooperation with Japan's International Port and Cargo Distribution (IPCD). The construction is expected to be completed in 17 months.
The Japanese company has priority access to 50 percent of the facility for 11 years until 2007, when PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II will take over the center's operation, Antara reported. (jsk)
