Cargo Boss Admits Giving Rp 3.2 Billion in Coded Envelopes to Customs Official
Blueray Cargo executive John Field admitted to giving Rp 3.2 billion to a customs and excise official at the Ministry of Finance, Gatot Heru, using envelopes coded ‘PGH’. Field made the admission while testifying as a witness in a graft case concerning goods imports at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday (21/7/2026). The defendants in the case are the Director of Enforcement and Investigation at Customs and Excise, Rizal, and the Head of the Intelligence Sub-Directorate at the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation, Sisprian Subiaksono.
Initially, the KPK prosecutor read out Field’s investigation report regarding payments totalling Rp 21 billion under the code BC1. Field confirmed the contents of the report. The prosecutor then read further details from the report describing the flow of money from Blueray Cargo to customs officials, including the Rp 3.2 billion to Gatot Heru under the code PGH. Field acknowledged the payments were intended to ensure Blueray’s imported goods were quickly released from customs inspection.
Field also confirmed the total amount of payments detailed in the report, which amounted to Rp 61.9 billion. He stated the payments were made in Singapore dollars and that no portion of the money was ever returned to Blueray. In this case, Rizal and Sisprian are accused alongside Orlando Hamonangan, the Head of Customs Intelligence Section I at the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation, of accepting bribes and gratuities totalling Rp 78.8 billion. John Field was previously tried and sentenced to two years in prison and a fine of Rp 300 million, a verdict that has become legally binding.
