Career Path of Liliek Prisbawono, New Constitutional Court Justice Replacing Anwar Usman

President Prabowo Subianto witnessed the oath-taking of Liliek Prisbawono Adi as a Constitutional Court (MK) justice at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday (10/4). The inauguration was conducted to fill the position vacated by Anwar Usman, who has entered retirement. Liliek becomes an MK justice from the Supreme Court (MA) contingent. The selection committee previously determined three top candidates based on evaluations of papers, annotations of rulings, as well as fitness tests and interviews. Liliek’s name was included in the top three alongside Fahmiron and Marsudin Nainggolan, as stated in the official Supreme Court announcement Number 46 WKMA.Y/KP1.1/III/2026, signed on 9 March 2026. Before becoming an MK justice, Liliek served as one of the high court judges at the Medan High Court. This man, born in Bojonegoro on 27 October 1966, also held the position of Chief Judge of the Central Jakarta District Court in 2022. Liliek has also served as Deputy Chief Judge of the Manado District Court, Chief Judge of the Balikpapan District Court, and up to Deputy Chief Judge of the South Jakarta District Court. While serving at the Central Jakarta District Court, Liliek was summoned by the Judicial Commission (KY) in May 2023 regarding his decision ordering the General Elections Commission (KPU) to delay the 2024 election stages in response to a lawsuit by Partai Prima. At that time, Liliek failed to attend the summons. Liliek’s name was also mentioned in the bribery case involving the acquittal of a corporate defendant in the cooking oil (migor) corruption case. At that time, Liliek was the chief judge of the panel that issued the acquittal verdict.
