JAMBI: A car thief identified as Yah, 24, was shot dead in Tanjung Jabung for resisting arrest on Friday.

Adj. Sr. Comr. Suedi Husein, chief of the Tanjung Jabung Police precinct, said police shot the suspect when he tried to escape.

"The suspect tried to escape when the police took him to locate the other suspects," he said. He added that police were pursuing other suspects identified as Edi, 14, Udin, 21, Dodi, 22, Sul, 15 and Yus, 14.

He said the group was believed to have stolen a number of cars and motorcycles in the regency. --Antara
