JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Car sales data in Indonesia for January to April 2026 show an interesting pattern. The light commercial vehicle segment, such as pickups and blind vans, has consistently occupied top positions on the list of best-selling cars, competing directly with popular passenger models such as MPVs and SUVs. In February 2026, the Suzuki Carry pickup registered 6,554 units, while the Daihatsu Gran Max pickup reached 4,458 units. A similar trend was also seen in April 2026, with the Gran Max pickup recording 5,727 units and the Suzuki Carry reaching 4,200 units. On the other hand, passenger cars such as the Toyota Avanza, Honda Brio, and Mitsubishi Xpander showed more fluctuations in the same period. For example, the Honda Brio ranged between 1,500 and 3,600 units per month, while the Avanza moved in the range of 2,300–3,400 units. In addition to pickups, the blind-van and minibus segments also show a significant contribution. Structurally, light commercial vehicles account for a sizeable share of the national best-sellers list. In some months, two to three models from this segment were among the top five sales. Meanwhile, the passenger-car segment remained dominated by MPVs such as the Toyota Kijang Innova, Avanza, and Calya. However, their positions often competed closely with light-commercial-vehicle models that showed steady volumes across periods. The data indicate that in the January–April 2026 period, light commercial vehicles were among the segments with a consistent contribution to the national best-sellers list, alongside the passenger-car segment which has different demand characteristics.
