Car sales rise 12.5 per cent in January–April 2026
Indonesia’s four-wheeled automotive market posted positive growth across January to April 2026, with gains in both wholesale from manufacturers to dealers and in retail sales to consumers. Retail sales for January–April 2026 reached 287,581 units, up 6.9% from 268,940 units recorded in the same period last year. Market conditions for the country’s automotive sector show resilience amid the current global environment, according to Setia in a Jakarta statement on Monday, 18 May 2026. Gaikindo data indicated that April 2026 wholesale volumes rose 31.8% from the previous month, which stood at 61,268 units. The rise is a positive signal for the national automotive industry after earlier pressures from a slowing global economy and shifting consumer preferences.
