Car Sales in May 2026 Fall to 69,219 Units

Data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) recorded wholesale car and truck sales (factory to dealer) of 69,219 units in May 2026, lower than the 80,779 units in April. However, vehicle sales in May this year were higher than the same month in 2025, which totalled 60,697 units. The best-selling cars in May included the Toyota brand with 21,900 units (down from 24,300 units in April), Daihatsu with 18,400 units (down from 19,100 units), and Honda with 10,800 units (down from 11,600 units). In the electric vehicle segment, Wuling led sales with 659 units (up from 358 units), followed by BYD with 449 units (down from 4,067 units), and Xpeng with 246 units (up from 67 units).

Meanwhile, ICE vehicle sales totalled 321,460 units in January-May 2026 (up 8.3 per cent compared to the same period last year). Hybrid type sales reached 25,380 units (up 57.4 per cent), whilst BEV sales amounted to 12,175 units (up 126.1 per cent).
