Car Plunges Into Canal After Avoiding a Motorcycle and Hitting a Tree in Cengkareng
One Calya hatchback plunged into a canal along Jl Outer Ringroad near Taman Palem, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, in the early hours of Thursday. The car plunged into the canal after avoiding a motorcycle and colliding with a tree. Kanit Gakkum Satlantas of the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Unit, AKP Joko Siswanto, said the driver named M Husein was driving a Calya with plate B-1871-JFS. The car was travelling south to north along Jl Outer Ringroad Selatan, toward Ruko 1000, Taman Palem, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. However, while passing the location, the car lost control due to avoiding the motorcycle in front. Then, it struck a tree and plunged into the canal. “Driver lost control while avoiding the motorcycle in front, veered to the right, hit a tree, then plunged into the canal and caused damage to the vehicle; Toyota Calya with plate B-1871-JFS had front-end damage and the front axle broken,” Joko said, Thursday (5 March 2026). As a result of the incident, the car sustained damage, with the front end destroyed and the front axle broken. There were no injuries or fatalities in the incident. Separately, KBO Satlantas Polres Jakbar, AKP Sudarmo, said the car had been evacuated. The driver was taken to the Jakbar Police Traffic Unit.
