JAKARTA — The Jakarta Provincial Government will implement Car Free Night (CFN) in the Sudirman-Thamrin area to welcome the takbiran evening ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

“I have approved the implementation of Car Free Night starting at 10 p.m. on that evening (takbiran),” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

During CFN implementation, private vehicles will not be permitted to travel through the Sudirman-Thamrin area. However, TransJakarta buses will continue operating that evening to ensure residents can carry out their activities.

In addition to CFN, the Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing various activities to enliven the “Mudik ke Jakarta” programme. On 12 March 2026, a Hijab Fashion Show will be held in the Tanah Abang area. Subsequently, on the evening of 19 March, a Bedug Festival will be held followed by a torch procession.

Regarding the homecoming exodus, the Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Transportation Department, is preparing a free mudik programme for residents. Homecoming travellers will depart on 17 March 2026 from the National Monument area.

“Initially we estimated only 26,000, but due to high enthusiasm, the number of verified homecoming travellers has now reached 30,774,” he said.

To accommodate the increase in the number of homecoming travellers, the bus fleet has been increased from 670 units to 709 units.
