The President has issued an instruction to the effect that PT
Timor Putra Nasional is the only one company that has the
permission to produce cars. The company is also exempted from
import duties and luxury car taxes. PT Timor, together with Kia
Motors Corporation from South Korea, manufactures the cars in
Cikampek, West Java, and plans to put the new cars on sale in six
months, by first importing semi-knocked-down cars.

Other car sole agents suspect the government in giving unfair
treatment in the automobile industry. PT Timor will reportedly be
able to sell its products at half the price of other cars. Of
course consumers are eagerly waiting for these inexpensive cars.

In fact, it is not easy for PT Timor to produce these national
cars because this requires the support of hundreds of component
makers. Can PT Timor fulfill its commitment?

At least PT Timor must be given a chance. We all should give
our support to make PT Timor's dream come true.
