Car Driving Against Traffic in Gunung Sahari Hits Motorcyclist, One Person Injured
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - One woman was injured after being hit by a Toyota Calya driving erratically and against traffic in Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/2/2026) afternoon.
“One victim has been reported to have suffered injuries. The victim, a woman with the initials NH, is a resident of Cengkareng, West Jakarta,” said the Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner Reynold Hutagalung, to reporters at the Tanah Abang Police Station on Wednesday evening.
Reynold also confirmed that there were no fatalities in the incident.
Meanwhile, a motorcycle belonging to another resident was damaged on the front and right side.
The Toyota Calya, which was driving against traffic, sustained damage to the right side and the rear window was shattered.
It is known that the incident began with the driver, suspected of using fake license plates.
Before driving against traffic, the driver, with the initials HM, was stopped by police officers.
“The car with license plate number D-1640-AHB was suspected of using fake license plates, so it was stopped by two traffic police officers,” said Reynold.
“HM was scared and fled, then entered Jalan Gunung Sahari and drove against traffic from south to north on Jalan Bungur Besar,” he continued.
Upon arriving at the Menara Bidakara Alfa Land (MBAL) intersection, the car continued driving against traffic on Jalan Pos.
Next, the car turned around at the MBAL intersection and turned left on the opposite lane on Jalan Gunung Sahari.
“There, the car was involved in an accident with a motorcycle,” said Reynold.
Previously, a video recording the car driving against traffic and being chased by residents went viral on Instagram on Wednesday.
As reported by the Instagram account, @lintasjakartaupdate, a black car was seen speeding against the flow of traffic.
The car continued to drive towards the traffic congestion while being chased by residents.
The condition of the car’s rear window appeared to be broken after being hit by a helmet thrown by a number of residents.
