Car driver attacker who assaulted motorist over honking in Cibubur faces up to 2 years 6 months’ imprisonment
As per the Penal Code, the suspect will be charged under Article 351(1) KUHP for assault and/or Article 406 KUHP on destruction. The penalties are up to 2 years 6 months’ imprisonment, said Gunung Putri Police Chief Kompol Aulia Robby on Thursday (21 May 2026). The suspect was detained on Wednesday (20 May) afternoon. At that time, police had upgraded his status to investigation and seized several pieces of evidence. From the case, evidence seized includes a black four-door vehicle, a mobile phone containing video recording of the assault, and the hospital’s medical report,” he explained. Motive of the suspect: Earlier, police revealed the motive of a man with the initials RG (40) who assaulted a motorist on Jalan Alternatif Cibubur-Cileungsi, Gunung Putri, Bogor, West Java. The suspect admitted he was upset because his child woke up due to the honking. “So if the motive is that the suspect was emotional and bringing a baby in the car,” said Gunung Putri Police Chief Kompol Aulia Robby. Police said the suspect’s child who was in the car woke up after another driver’s honk. The suspect then became emotional and struck the victim. “Thus his child woke up and his dignity as a father wanting to protect his child made the suspect feel emotional,” he added. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday (17 May). After the assault, the victim reported the incident to the police.
