CapCut Promotes Development of Indonesia's Creative Economy Ecosystem with CapCut Gala 2026
Jakarta, VIVA – The integrated video editing solution platform, CapCut, has reaffirmed its commitment to continuously supporting the development of the creative economy in Indonesia, while also encouraging the creative spirit of creators within the digital creative economy ecosystem.
CapCut’s efforts, as a platform owned by the Chinese technology company ByteDance Ltd., in empowering local creators align with the Indonesian government’s agenda to promote the growth of creative industry players and the digital economy in Indonesia.
“As one of the countries with a highly dynamic creator ecosystem growth, Indonesia’s creative economy sector absorbs around 27.4 million workers in 2025, up from 26.48 million the previous year,” CapCut management stated in a press release on Friday, 8 May 2026.
This figure equates to 18.7% of the total national workforce. The creative economy’s contribution to the national GDP in 2024 reached Rp1,611.2 trillion, or about 7.28%. This underscores the sector’s role as one of the main pillars of Indonesia’s economy.
The Ministry of Creative Economy notes that the creative economy encompasses 17 subsectors, including film, animation, video, applications, and digital content, which are increasingly developing alongside the growing role of digital platforms in people’s lives.
In line with these efforts, CapCut continues to provide space for creators to produce works and showcase their potential through various initiatives. One of them is the open competition titled #CapCutGala2026, which invites creators to share their best creations.
CapCut also held the CapCut Gala 2026 awards night at the end of April 2026 to appreciate 21 top creators and celebrate the CapCut creator community’s contributions to the nation’s creative industry.
Kesi Ismayani, a creator from Bogor and winner of the “Top Creator CapCut 2026” award, shared her experience as a CapCut creator. Over the past two years, she has actively released various CapCut video templates with cinematic-style content and quotes.
“My templates turned out to be very popular and widely used by CapCut users. This encouraged me, who was originally an employee, to dare to become a full-time CapCut creator,” she said.
In the “CapCut Gala 2026” awards night event, CapCut awarded 21 winners from 21 award categories, covering three major categories in CapCut: creators, agencies, and content. These awards were given to creators who consistently demonstrate the best innovation and creativity through their works on CapCut.
