Popular video editing app CapCut has officially announced a partnership with Google’s AI chatbot Gemini. The collaboration allows users to edit photos and videos directly within the Gemini app using CapCut’s editing tools without switching applications. CapCut announced the news via its official X account, stating, “Users will soon be able to edit images and videos directly within the Gemini app using CapCut’s advanced creative and editing capabilities.”

CapCut also noted that the future of creative workflows will become more “conversational”, intuitive, and integrated with AI. With this integration, users will be able to run almost the entire content creation workflow within Gemini. From brainstorming ideas, scripting, generating AI images, to final video editing—all can be done in one place. Previously, videos generated by Veo required manual transfer to CapCut for editing. However, with this integration, the process will be significantly streamlined. Users simply need to provide text commands or prompts in everyday language. For example, they may type instructions such as, “Create a one-minute cinematic video about a night concert with smooth transitions and automatic subtitles,” and Gemini and CapCut will collaborate to edit the video accordingly.

This CapCut integration also strengthens Google’s move to position Gemini as a central hub for AI-driven creative workflows. Previously at Google I/O 2026, Google announced Gemini integrations with Canva and Adobe. This allows Gemini users to access various design, photo editing, and video editing tools directly within conversations.

CapCut has long been recognised as one of the most popular video editing apps among social media creators, particularly TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts users. The app offers relatively easy-to-learn editing tools, complete with transition effects, templates, automatic subtitles, and AI-powered editing features.
