Capacity-building workshop at N. Dua
The World Bank plans to hold a workshop on sustainable approaches
to local government capacity building at Hotel Inna Putri Bali,
Nusa Dua, from June 19 through June 21.
The workshop, aimed at providing knowledge for local
governments in the decentralization era, will present a number of
prominent speakers.
Vice President of the World Bank Institute Dr Frannie Leautier
will present a keynote speaker. He will be followed by several
others including Prof. Dr. Bambang D. Soedjito from the Bandung
Institute of Technology (ITB), Director General for Urban and
Rural Development at the Ministry of Public Works Agoes
Widjarnako and Deputy Executive Director and World Bank LOGOFIND
Project director at the Philippines Department of Finance Lilanie
Magdamo.
The three will discuss the challenge of decentralization and
governance reforms and various other contentious issues regarding
local governance capacity building.
To share its discussions with other countries, the workshop is
also inviting three mayors from the Philippines and American
academic Professor Robert Cervero from the University of
California at Berkeley. -- JP
