Cap Go Meh Festival 2026 in SCBD Showcases Harmony of Lunar New Year and Ramadan

The 2026 Lunar New Year celebration, titled Ride To Luck – Cap Go Meh Festival, reached its climax with a grand arts parade in Jakarta’s SCBD district on Sunday, 1 March. The festival, themed “Ride To Luck”, marked a rare and authentic expression of tolerance, with the spirit of Lunar New Year and Cap Go Meh celebrations coinciding with the blessings of Ramadan.

The celebration showcased a diverse array of artistic and cultural performances reflecting Indonesia’s cultural plurality and synthesis. Highlights of the parade included traditional dragon dances (liong), barongsai performances, ondel-ondel figures, and gambang kromong music ensembles. These performances served as an opportunity to reinforce harmony and unity within the nation’s diversity, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Indonesian archipelago.
