Canon, the Japanese camera and lens manufacturer, has officially unveiled its latest full-frame mirrorless camera, the Canon EOS R6 V. This camera is the newest model in the EOS V-series, specifically designed for video creators and content producers. Unlike the general EOS R series, the Canon EOS R6 V has a rather unique design as it is not equipped with an electronic viewfinder (EVF). This camera also does not have a mechanical shutter, so the entire shooting and recording process relies on an electronic shutter. The Canon EOS R6 V is also equipped with an active cooling system in the form of an internal fan. This feature is designed to allow the camera to record video for extended periods without overheating. Canon claims the camera can record for more than two hours in certain modes when the cooling fan is active. However, Canon warns that the sound of the fan may be picked up by the microphone during the recording process. For capturing images, the Canon EOS R6 V uses a 32.5 MP full-frame CMOS sensor paired with a DIGIC X processor. This sensor is the same as the one used in the Canon EOS C50 and EOS R6 Mark III cinema cameras. The camera is capable of recording video up to 7K resolution internally in RAW format to a CFexpress Type B card. The maximum resolution reaches 6960 x 4640 pixels. In terms of video, the EOS R6 V supports 7K RAW recording up to 60 fps in Light RAW mode, as well as 7K Open Gate 3:2 up to 30 fps. In addition, there is also a 4K oversampling mode up to 60 fps, 4K 120 fps with audio, and Full HD up to 180 fps. Canon also includes professional color profiles such as Canon Log 2, Canon Log 3, PQ, and HLG for HDR video production needs.
