'Canned fish unfit for consumption'

JAKARTA: A survey by the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) said on Monday that 90 percent of 30 samples of canned fish failed to comply with government regulations on attaching labels on ingredients, weight and date of expiry.

Carried out in random supermarkets, the survey showed that 30 percent of the samples did not include their weight on the label and 60 percent of samples did not weigh as much as mentioned on their labels.

The survey also revealed none of the samples of canned fish used the type of fish stated on the label. --JP
