Candy wrappers used as cover by repeat offender to distribute methamphetamine in Serang

Serang (ANTARA) - Serang Police in Banten have arrested a repeat offender, identified by the initials NR (30), who is suspected of resuming methamphetamine distribution by concealing nine packets of the narcotic inside candy wrappers.

Serang Police Chief AKBP Andri Kurniawan said in Serang on Wednesday that NR was arrested by the Narcotics Unit at his rented house in Unyur Sub-district, Serang District, in the early hours of Monday (28/7).

“During the search, officers managed to secure evidence in the form of nine packets of methamphetamine that had been deliberately stored inside candy wrappers to deceive officers,” Andri said.

NR is known to be a resident of Sepang Sub-district, Taktakan District, and had only been released from Tangerang Penitentiary around two months ago. The suspect is currently still under mandatory reporting status.

In the initial examination, the suspect admitted to returning to narcotics distribution due to economic necessity.

“The suspect admitted that he had just scattered a number of methamphetamine packets in the Merak area of Cilegon City shortly before he was raided by officers,” Bondan said.

Police then asked the suspect to point out several locations where the methamphetamine packets had been stored. However, when officers accompanied the suspect to the locations in question, the packets had already been collected by the buyers.

“We then asked the suspect to point out several storage locations. However, when officers accompanied the suspect to these locations, it turned out the methamphetamine packets had already been taken by the buyers,” he said.

Police are still investigating the case to uncover the supplier network and other parties suspected of involvement in the narcotics trade.
