REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DEPOK – Musician Danilla Riyadi will release a new album titled Candramawa. Unlike her previous works, this album represents Danilla’s exploration of combining the spirit of the analogue and digital eras, while also responding to changes in music consumption patterns in the age of social media.

The title Candramawa itself comes from Javanese and means black and white. This philosophy becomes the central theme in the overall concept of the album, reflecting the contrast between the past and the present.

“I grew up in the analogue era, unlike now where you can create playlists as you like. Nowadays, people listen to songs in snippets and can also create their own playlists. That’s why I tried to incorporate this into my new album,” said Danilla when she was a speaker at the Out Loud Republika event held at the University of Indonesia, Thursday (26/2/2026).

Danilla revealed that this album will only contain eight songs with a total duration of approximately 30 minutes. This decision was made in response to current music listening habits, which have changed significantly.

She explained that listeners’ attention spans have become shorter due to the constant flow of social media. Many people only know the chorus of a song without really listening to the entire composition.

“Now people might listen to a song for only 15 seconds. They know the chorus, but they don’t know what the beginning is like. That’s why for this album, I want to create something short and enjoyable for myself,” said Danilla.

She also hopes that the album, which will be released in June, can be listened to in its entirety by all listeners, both those who are accustomed to the analogue era and those who are accustomed to the digital era. “Hopefully, if the album is 30 minutes long, it will be well received and people can enjoy listening to the music,” said Danilla.
