Candidates fail submit finance reports

OGAN ILIR, South Sumatra: Only one of four pairs of candidates in
the June 25 Ogan Ilir regency election has submitted a campaign
finance report to the local General Elections Commission.

"Although there are no legal sanctions for those who fail to
submit finance reports, the candidates have a moral obligation to
obey election rules," said Herlambang, the chairman of the Ogan
Ilir General Elections Commission.

The only candidates to submit a report are Mawardi Yahya and
running mate Iskandar, who won the election.

Among the campaign finance regulations is a rule that
individuals can donate no more than Rp 50 million (US$5,263) to
any one candidate.-- JP
