Candidate found to have fake cert

BANYUMAS, Central Java: The Banyumas General Elections
Commission on Wednesday disqualified Suherman, a candidate in the
recent legislative election, after his diploma was found to be
false.

The Central Java education office declared that the diploma
presented by Suherman, who chairs the Banyumas branch of the
Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and who won a
legislative seat in the April 5 election, was invalid.

Through his lawyer, Paulus Gunadi, Suherman said he would
challenge the election commission's decision in court. --JP
