JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Ahmad Ali, Daily Chairman of the Solidarity Party of Indonesia (PSI), stated that he has cancelled his planned umrah pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia due to the conflict between Iran, Israel and the United States.

As a result, Ali emphasised his intention to continue the 2026 Ramadan Safari campaign alongside PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep to regions in Central Java and West Java.

During the past week, PSI officials have visited Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) across Banten, Jakarta, and East Java.

“My plan was to undertake umrah tomorrow, but because Israel attacked Iran, I won’t be going. So perhaps Gus Yoga (PSI Deputy Secretary General) will soon reschedule this one or two-day journey with the Chairman so we can visit Central Java with the team for further relationship-building,” Ali said when met in Surabaya, East Java, on Monday (2 March 2026).

Ali claimed that PSI cadres continue to seek spiritual advice from Islamic scholars and clerics.

“We want to understand the perspective of Islamic scholars, ulama, the community, and students towards PSI. Because PSI certainly needs input from many stakeholders and community members. We will then consolidate this feedback into our political movement and political work,” he explained.

He expressed hope of reaching more supporters for PSI through this Ramadan campaign.

“Central Java and West Java are not yet complete. God willing, may Allah strengthen and preserve our health so that we can reach more supporters,” he added.
