Canadian Woman Found Dead in Denpasar Guesthouse
A Canadian citizen was found dead in a room at the Cozy Home guesthouse, located at Jalan Pulau Batanta Number 34, Banjar Abian Tegal, Dauh Puri Kauh Village, West Denpasar District, on Monday (23/2/2026) at approximately 11:00 am local time. She had been staying in room number 07 since February 17th, 2026.
“A female foreign national from Canada, named Leclaire Suzanne (62), was found dead in a guesthouse room in the West Denpasar area,” said the Head of the West Denpasar Police, Kompol Ni Wayan Adnyani Prabawati, on Tuesday (24/2/2026).
Adnyani explained that the victim was first discovered by a woman named Nyoman Kenti Wilawati (57), who had been assisting in caring for the victim during her stay.
At around 8:00 am, Kenti went to Suzanne’s room to change her diaper and offer food and medication. However, Suzanne refused. Kenti then left the room at around 9:00 am after being asked to return at 5:00 pm.
“Because she felt uneasy, the witness returned at around 11:00 am with a colleague. When the door was opened and the victim was called, there was no response. After checking, the victim’s hands were already cold and stiff,” Adnyani explained.
The discovery was then reported to the guesthouse management and relayed to local authorities. Officers from the Inafis Denpasar Police arrived at the location at around 1:35 pm to conduct a crime scene investigation.
When found, Suzanne was lying on her back on the bed with her head facing west and her feet facing east. Both hands were straight at her sides. Suzanne was wearing an orange tank top and a diaper, and was covered with a brown blanket.
From the initial external examination, police found no signs of violence on the victim’s body.
“From the initial examination, no signs of violence were found, either from blunt or sharp objects. On her back, there were dark marks, which are suspected to be due to the victim lying down for a considerable amount of time,” Adnyani said.
In the room, officers also found several of Suzanne’s belongings, including a white iPhone with a charger, two power banks, a wallet containing identification and a passport, medical records from a hospital, and several types of medication.
Before staying at the guesthouse, Suzanne had undergone treatment at Siloam Kuta Hospital and was then referred to Prof. Ngoerah Denpasar General Hospital.
At around 1:47 pm, the victim’s body was evacuated by officers from the Denpasar City PMI to the morgue at Prof. Ngoerah Denpasar General Hospital for further handling.
