MANILA (AFP): Canada's Prime Minister Jean Chretian arrived
here yesterday at the head of a delegation of government and
business leaders to promote business ties, the Canadian embassy
here said.
The three-day official visit by Chretien, part of an Asian
swing, will feature a meeting later yesterday with Philippine
President Fidel Ramos and the signing of a bilateral air services
agreement.
Chretien will address two groups of businessmen today, and
hold talks with the president of the Manila-based Asian
Development Bank and the speaker of the House of Representatives.
Chretien will also meet Ramos' predecessor, Corazon Aquino before
his delegation leaves for Bangkok tomorrow, the presidential
palace said.
The Canadian delegation includes the premiers of the country's
10 provinces and over 300 businessmen.
