Canadian National Commits Suicide with Firearm; Man Colik's Last Message to Son

A Canadian national, identified by the initials JAK (46), was found dead in his villa in Jimbaran, South Kuta, Badung, Bali, in a suspected suicide. The Head of Public Relations for the Bali Police, Commissioner Ariasandy, stated on Friday (10/7/2026) that the man is believed to have shot himself. The incident occurred on Monday (6/7/2026) and came to light after the victim’s friend, a British national named Benjamin, was unable to contact him. Benjamin had arranged to deliver a motorcycle to the villa. After finding the villa locked, he forced entry and discovered the victim on a sofa with a gunshot wound. Benjamin informed police that the victim had previously attempted suicide three times while living in Jakarta and was suspected of suffering from a paranoid disorder. In a separate incident, a video went viral on social media showing local tourists claiming they were asked to leave a food stall at Blue Lagoon Beach in Padangbai, Manggis, Karangasem, to make room for foreign tourists. The stall owner, Luh Putu Susiani, denied the accusation, explaining that a group of five local visitors had finished their meal and were playing cards loudly for an extended period. She said she only asked them not to play cards for too long due to limited table capacity, especially as it was approaching a busy lunch period. She stated she has never discriminated between local and foreign visitors. Meanwhile, the eldest son of I Nyoman Cita, also known as Man Colik, has shared his father’s final words of advice. The 50-year-old warung owner from Negari Village, Banjarangkan, Klungkung, died in a suspected murder. His 17-year-old son, I Gede Rangga Winata, recalled that his father had recently encouraged him to start going to the gym to improve his health and physique, a message that has now become a cherished final memory.
