JAKARTA (JP): Canadian Transportation Minister Douglas Young is scheduled to make a week-long visit to Indonesia on Nov. 20-24 to discuss transportation cooperation between the two countries.
During the visit, Minister Young, who will be accompanied by a business delegation, will meet with government officials and businessmen, particularly with leading Indonesian manufacturers of transportation equipment, the Canadian embassy announced here yesterday.
The Canadian business delegation represents Canadian transportation expertise in aerospace, civil aviation, railway and urban transportation sectors, many of which are already active in Indonesia.
According to Canadian Ambassador Lawrence T. Dickenson, Canadians have had the privilege of working with Indonesia in the expansion of the national transportation infrastructure since the 1960s.
"The provision of specialized equipment, technologies and services for the development of Indonesian railways and road networks and for further expansion of civil aviation infrastructure in Java, Sumatra and other islands, have been highlights of bilateral cooperation in this sector," he said. (12)
