Canadian envoy to visit Aceh
JAKARTA: Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Randolph Mank will visit the tsunami-hit Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam this week to view reconstruction progress, the embassy said in a press release sent to The Jakarta Post.
Ambassador Mank will arrive in Aceh on Monday and return to Jakarta on Tuesday.
Canada has so far provided 87 million Canadian dollars (US$75 million) in emergency relief and reconstruction projects in Aceh.
The main highlight of the trip to Aceh is a visit to the Canadian wood-frame demonstration houses.
"These houses showcase the ability of Canadian wood-frame technology to support and speed-up housing reconstruction efforts in Aceh," the statement said.
Mank and his entourage will visit Canadian-funded housing and livelihood projects, and meet the community members who are benefiting from these projects.
These projects are mainly located in Lhoong subdistrict, Aceh Besar regency. -- JP
