Canada confirms bar dumping

OTTAWA (Dow Jones): The Canada Customs and Revenue Agency
confirmed that certain concrete reinforcing bar products from
Indonesia, Japan, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Taiwan and Ukraine
were dumped into Canada at an average of 30 percent below normal
price levels.

In a news release, the agency said this reaffirms a
preliminary decision made on Feb. 1, that to eliminate the
dumping, duties ranging from 25 percent to 42 percent will
continue to be imposed on imports from the seven countries until
the Canadian International Trade Tribunal concludes its inquiry.

The agency said it started an investigation in November after
receiving a complaint from Hamilton, Ont.-based Stelco Inc.. The
company claimed that the dumping of concrete reinforcing bar
products was harming Canadian industry.
