Canada condemns Israel's military operation in Lebanon as illegal invasion

Ottawa - Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney on Tuesday (31/3) condemned Israel’s military operation in Lebanon, describing it as an “illegal invasion” that violates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon. When asked about the Middle East conflict during a press conference, Carney stated, “This is an illegal invasion, this is an invasion of Lebanon. It constitutes a violation of their sovereignty and territorial integrity.” Carney’s statement was issued as the United Nations Security Council is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the deaths of three Indonesian UN peacekeeping troops recently in southern Lebanon, who were reported to have been killed by Israeli gunfire.
