As Eid 2026 approaches and concludes, a work from anywhere (WFA) policy has been implemented for civil servants and private sector employees and workers. This allows workers to perform their duties from any location in accordance with their company’s provisions.

Can WFA during Eid 2026 be counted as leave? The following is an explanation.

According to the official website of the Ministry of State Administration and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), the WFA arrangement for civil servants during Eid 2026 is not to be interpreted as additional leave days, but rather as a work flexibility arrangement to maintain continuity of government operations and public services during the national holiday and joint leave period.

What about the private sector? According to the official website of the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker), workers who participate in WFA during Eid 2026 must still work according to their duties and responsibilities. WFA during Eid 2026 in the private sector is not counted as annual leave.

“Workers who implement WFA continue to carry out their work in accordance with their duties and responsibilities, and therefore the implementation of WFA is not counted as annual leave,” said Minister of Manpower Yassierli.

The same point was also stated in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Manpower Number M/2/HK.04/II/2026 concerning the Implementation of Work From Another Location (Work From Anywhere) for Workers in Companies During the Holiday Period of Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr 2026. Here are the details:

  1. WFA is not counted as annual leave.

  2. Workers implementing WFA continue to carry out their work in accordance with their duties and responsibilities.
