Can leaders ever sacrifice?

From Rakyat Merdeka

Public suffering has been exacerbated by the recent price
hikes in fuel, electricity and telephone rates. The public have
to carry the heavy burdens of life amid the arrogance of their
leaders. The wounds become more painful on finding out that
almost every government official has more than one billion
rupiah, as recorded by the State Officials Audit Commission
(KPKPN).

Though some officials claim that grants or bequests were the
source of their wealth, I suspect the real source is corruption,
collusion and nepotism (KKN).

As a member of the public, I can only wish that these
officials could feel the hunger of the poor and sacrifice a part
of their wealth to subsidize prices of basic commodities.

But it's only wishful thinking, because they just keep making
a shameless display of their wealth despite the desperate plight
of many.

Should the people be forced to carry the burden forever? Will
our leaders ever learn to sacrifice?
