Cameroonian charged with forgery

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Medan Police charged on Monday a Cameroon national, Bamy Pameu alias Michael, with forging U.S. banknotes.

The police, however, released Pameu's compatriots Ngasop Eric and Yaleu Neo Raso due to lack of evidence. They were arrested with Pameu over the weekend at a hotel while at an alleged drug party.

During a body search, police found three fake dollar banknotes on Pameu. The officers also discovered papers, negatives of the greenback, a bank ultralight and other devices believed to have been used to counterfeit money.

Pameu, who has been in Indonesia for three months, said he obtained the tools from a friend in Switzerland. -- JP
