Caltex welcomes 54 apprentices

PEKANBARU, Riau: Some 54 university graduates are set to begin
an intensive apprenticeship program with American oil company PT
Caltex Pacific Indonesia (CPI) in Riau.

Aswin Yakob, an assistant to the secretary of the provincial
administration, said in the opening ceremony at the kick-off of
the apprenticeship program that all the recent graduates were
expected to develop their careers with the oil company in order
to transfer mining technology to local experts.

Poedyo Oetomo, director of CPI's media and communications
affairs, said the trainees would receive computer and English
training for the first four months and on-the-job training
thereafter.

"Trainees will also be trained in other programs such as
communications, leadership and labor health and safety," he said.
