Caltex to host physics Olympiad

PEKANBARU, Riau: Caltex Polytechnic will host the Sixth Asia Physics Olympiad in April this year, an official at oil and gas company PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia has said.

Djati Susetya, the spokesman of the company, said on Thursday that the company would provide any facilities needed to host the Olympiad, including facilities related to the competition and communication facilities such as internet access.

Riau Caltex Polytechnic was appointed by the Riau provincial government to host the competition as it is thought to have the best facilities in the province, including its laboratory. The Asian Olympiad was first held in Indonesia in 2000. Over 130 senior high school students from 20 countries across Asia are slated to participate in this year's competition. -- JP
