Caltex boss named IPA president

JAKARTA (JP): The president and chairman of the managing board of PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia (CPI), Baihaki H. Hakim, was recently elected the president of the board of directors of the Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) for 1999.

The company announced that Baihaki would replace Ronald I. Wilson from Mobil Oil when he finishes his term at the end of the year. Baihaki and other officers were elected at the IPA general meeting in Jakarta. He assumes the presidency effective on Jan. 1, 1999, for a one-year term.

Baihaki, an active member of IPA since its establishment, was appointed IPA convention chairman and a member of IPA's board of directors in 1995.

IPA was founded in March 24, 1971, as a nonprofit professional organization by representatives of Pertamina, Lemigas, British Petroleum, Caltex, Jenny Joint Venture, Shell and Union Oil.

The organization is known in the industry for its innovative ideas, especially in technology transfer. Its mission is to promote greater understanding and development of the petroleum industry in the country.

Major IPA programs include conventions, university assistance, short courses, workshops, symposia, technical publications, and data management.

At present, the organization has 54 company members and 132 associate members, proved to be a valuable forum for ideas to move the industry forward in these of times of low oil prices. (29)
